I still think of an afternoon I walked 3/4 mile to Debbie's house and she was kind enough to set out in the front yard and talk to me for 30 minutes. We never had classes together or any other activities. Thank You for overlooking my shyness.

She was one of my best friends and a beautiful person. We were both only children, so we were a lot like sisters  loving, arguing and sharing so much with each other, practically living at each other’s homes when we could.

She was tragically taken much too early driving home from Houston when a semi crossed the freeway hitting them head on. She and her husband were killed, but their 2 year old daughter was thrown free of the car and survived. Debbie’s parents raised her. I wasn’t good at keeping up with them, but did get a photo of her when she turned 16 and she looked exactly like Debbie.

I remember it was so hard to attend their funeral in Nacogdoches where they had been living.  It was so sad that she was taken so young. I’ve so missed her all those times I wanted to share my good and bad times with her. I will always love and miss her.
