Perry Brown McCord III passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016, after a long battle with COPD. The family is thankful for the compassionate caregivers at Harris Methodist Southwest ICU and Vitas Hospice at Baylor All Saints.
Perry was born and raised in Fort Worth and graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1968. Perry lived in Honolulu, Hawaii, most of his adult life, earning his Master Mariner license at Pacific Maritime Academy. He was both a commercial and a research fisherman known as "Captain Perry" to many. He was happiest when he was at sea. When on land, he was loved and cared for by many. He was preceded in death by his father, Perry McCord Jr.; mother, Peggy Lavine; brother, Randall McCord; and longtime girlfriend, Masumi Sawamura. Survivors: Sisters, Marla Wolf of Trophy Club, Alison Lavine of Kansas City, Mo., Peranne McCord of Houston, Kerry Jo Lavine of San Antonio, and Cindy Lavine of Fort Worth; nieces; nephews; and cousins.
